I am currently trying to install the Magento E-commerce platform on my hosting. I have a hosting account with Kattare and usually they are very quick at dealing with any queries I have sent them…but it appears they are stumped on this one. They took almost no time at all to get me set up with PHP5 and a MySQL 5 database, but I have still not been able to get the Magento installation working.

I have tried the downloader install, installation via SSH and the full installation via FTP (x2) all with no luck. I have set the permissions as per the installation guide and even got some information from a friend who has managed to get it installed on 2 different hosting services (he is a legend!).

I have set the permissions on the index.php file in both the root and downloader folders as this friend suggested with no luck. The magento-check.php file tells me that the PHP is set up as expected – although the MySQL version comes up as 4.1.20 even though I do have a MySQL 5 DB installation.

It is proving to be increasingly frustrating to install and I don’t seem to be alone in this regard judging by the number of guides and installation problem entries on the Magento forums.

At the moment I have installed Magento here http://www.catosplace.net/magento/ but the page just states ‘No input file specified.’

I am currently in the process of emailing the hosting support once more and starting a topic on the Magento installation problem forum. (My installation issue forum post is here).

Anyone with any advice for me, would be much appreciated.
